Washington Monument, Baltimore (2015)

Baltimore’s Washington Monument was the first monument to our first president erected by any city or state. Standing stately above the city, the monument reopened in 2015 after being closed for several years for renovations.

Nerd Trips ABC’s:

Admission: The monument is open to the public, check out the website for the latest information on hours. It’s free to visit and tour the gallery on the first floor, there is a small fee to climb the tour. At the time of this publication, climbing fee was $6.36.admission.  Again, visit the website for the latest information.

Bathrooms: There are no bathrooms. The nearby Walters Art Museum (with free admission) has bathrooms. However, don’t just go in there for the bathrooms. I volunteered there for several years – there are amazing things to see.

Cars (parking/transportation): There is street parking and several public transportation lines run near the monument

Concessions: The monument is located in the heart of the Mt. Vernon neighborhood, where there are lots of great restaurants.

Coffee Cups (aka souvenirs): I did not see any souvenirs for sale at the monument.  In the nearby gift shop for Baltimore’s basilica I bought a nice print of Mt. Vernon Square (it’s hanging in my bathroom).
